One of the icebreaker games whereby we have to form this caterpillar chain and we have to go round making the chain longer, like the handphone SNAKE game.

The person behind will guide the blindfolded in front to whack the other caterpillar chains~

ACE!- Day 3 and 4

Day 3

I forgot what we did, but we lagged a lot during this day.

Had this auction thingo in the morning, whereby we’ll use our money we have earned (from ’sponsorships’ and the causeway point signatures) to auction for items we want for our “actual event”.

Auctioned for really stupid items like “Maryln’s signature” and snoopy and a dragon softoy and what not.

To think all these items actually fetched up to a few thousand dollars HAHAHAHA.

 

After the auctioning we came up with a skit, which was the representation of our actual Come Wheelabout event

Good job guys we did great!

 
Had Campfire at night and it was really fun~~

Our group won the best cheer and our prize was to spell our group name with our butt.

What the shit.
Our group also won the fashion parade thingo.

HAHAHAHHA. I helped Veron wrote her first letter to her mortal, Darren, cos she didn’t know what to write.

It was utter nonsense and it went something like this “…I don’t know who you are. Can you stand in front of the envelope now and shout your name so I would know who you are?”

I totally laughed my heads off when Veron and I saw his WHAT-THE-HELL? reaction after he read the letter , somemore he went to show it to his groupmates LOL. 

 

Okay lah third day was damn short ):

Was supposed to have a night trail! BUT THEY CANCELLED IT ):
But Alicia told us that Camp Challenge used to be an ex prison and a woman got killed in 1974.

So the initial nightwalk,we’ll be given clues and gotta find info of when and how the woman got killed and details about the woman.
COOL RIGHT.

But it was cancelled

 

OH I REMEMBERED NOW.

We had this community Boccia game.

Bet you don’t know what it is. I’m lazy to explain too, so you shall go research.

It’s basically a game played with blue and red balls Great for the elderly.

 
Day 4

Didn’t do much today, except for cutting our team flag so that each of us gets a piece each.

Alright, almost forgot to mention.

We did an amazing thing on the last day as a whole ACE.

We formed the largest human caterpillar chained heart shape and went into the Singapore book of Records!!! WOOHOOOOOO~~~~

They even invited Razor TV down to film us doing it and supporting the entire heart with our hands only

HAHAHAHAH HAPPY HAPPY. I went into the Singapore book of Records twice in 1 month! HOW COOL IS THAT!

 
Had a camp debrief by Gerry Potter who talked to us about the theme of ACE.

We were Jokers when we first arrived in the camp, and on the last day all of us transformed into knights!

I liked what he said, “…transform you all into knights that put themselves aside for the greater good.”

It’s true that every kingdom there’d be a king and queen and all sorts of royalties, but it’s the knights that are the most noble ones cos they sacrifice their lives~

YAY.

Ah yes this is how I’m gonna end my post.

Every single camp that I’ve been to, I bring back different sorts of experience and feelings and memories which cannot be fully penned down in words.

At least there’s still ACP (after camp programme)~ that’s why I don’t feel damn sad after the camp~
(Usually I will cos the friends that you meet there will probably never meet again :X)

ACE! – day2

I’ve decided to post about my camp in 4 different posts.

‘else it’ll really be super long and no one would bother reading it anymore

 

Day 2

One good thing about ACE camp is that you get to sleep until damn late.

For all my other camps that I go to, I have to wake up at let’s say, 5 plus or 6 plus?

For ACE, you get to wake up at 7 plus or even 8 plus! WOOOOHOOO PERFECT FOR PIGS LIKE ME.
Anyway, early in the morning we had this project management workshop, which fyi, was really boring.

We were told to come up with this group project after the workshop and pen it down on a piece of mahjong paper, which we will bring it out to Causeway Point after lunch and sell our idea to the public  

Our project’s Come Wheelabout!
20km wheelchair hike from East coast park to VJC LOL.
Objective is to let JC students understand how it feels like to be on a wheelchair and empathise with the wheelchair bound~

Hahahahaa, so we gotta go out there, talk to random strangers and if they support our idea, ask them to sign on our mahjong paper.
If they are willing to volunteer for our event, they’ll take a picture with us!

It’s really a pretty good experience for us cos we met with many people who ran away when they see us approaching them :/ (though I think I might do that too)

I guess it’s the same in real life, where not everyone will support you in whatever you do and all you can only do is to suck thumb and move on.

But it seriously felt awesome when people nod their heads and sign on the paper when you ask “So do you think this idea would work?” or “Do you support our idea?”

Went back and we got 39 signatures~! 390 cash points for people who couldn’t think of a name but chose this one.
Hung around, and came up with a budget for our Come Wheelabout project.

There’s this really cool night game. Let’s just call it the getting sponsorship game.

We were given this envelope filled with clues leading to a character, and on the paper there’s really weird things like what the character likes to do.
For instance, Ren Zi is a monk that likes to play drinking games, elephant style. -.-

Here are the names of the 7 super rich characters whom we can get our sponsorship from: Bill Doors, Crazy Charlie, Booky Betta, Little LiLi, DJ Danny, Ren Zi, Debbie Begham.
At each station we cheered, introduced our idea and did really crappy games like pouring water into other people’s mouth.

HAHAHAHA but it was really cool cos everyone agreed that our group bonded the most during this game. 
Repeated our cheers many many times, and it gets better and better each time

Our initial budget was $2150 and we got a lot more than that! Forgot how much though, $5000++?  HAHAHAA YAY!

 Woohoooo end of day 2!
Went back to the legacy hall and learnt Our Song.

Learnt handsigns for the chorus of the song.

Somehow whenever I listen or sing that song, I feel a tinge of melancholy in me :/

“For this is how we sing our song.

ACE CAMP 2009 – day1

Hi, I know this is late, but well, yesterday was a tiring day (today too).
And well, you know I dont’ really like blogging about camps cos there’s just too much to blog about!!

But for the sake of you readers I shall do it.

ACE CAMP 2009

From 15/06-18/06

*Lengthy post ahead, will try my very super best to make it interesting.

 

Day 1

Arrived at Camp Challenge with Veron Nicole and Xuqin!

Had some icebreakers like the form a word game, whereby each of us gets a letter stuck on our stomach and the emcees will call out a category like “MOVIES” and all of us gotta come together to form a word related to the category.

Then we also played some ship game which was similar to the one I played at PVC2.
And before we knew it, we formed our groups for the rest of ACE camp.

Smart huh the ACE main comm.
Made use of the icebreakers to make us form ourselves into groups.
LOL, but of course got some criteria one lah~

So my group is called,

“The people who couldn’t think of a name but chose this one”

(Actually gotta add in ‘The order of…’ in front of our group name, but I like it this way! )

Hahahahahah cool name right~~~

Did usual stuff like group flags and cheers and yay our group cheer pwnxzxzx.
(Confession to make: I reused the cheers from Camp Pinnacle :/)

 

Lunch was disability lunch!

Seriously damn cool, when I get the pictures from the photographer then I’ll post it up.

Firstly we get a partner, which in my case is Veron Wee.
Then her hands get tied up and I’m blindfolded.
So I gotta open up her pack of rice and feed her while listening to her instructions.

It’s not easy okay! I remember the photographer (Yuko or don’t know who) came over and laughed her ass off.
I also don’t know why, I couldn’t see (as in, literally) what’s the joke -.-

Dropped a lot of rice all over the chair hahahahaha.

Then we switched and it was Veron’s turn to feed me! 
She dropped rice on my hands and legs.

Hahahaha but it was super fun lah. Got to experience how it feels like to be blind!

 

After lunch was more opportunities to experience being blind.

THE EMPATHY GAME.

From the start after we got blindfolded, we were kind of separated from our group mates and everything was kinda scary (okay lah maybe not) cos you had to depend on yourself by holding on to this raffia string by the side and just kept walking.

Then you reach stations by stations doing different daily tasks!

 

First station: Mixing of syrup

Okay, I was given this cup, and was brought to this water canister.

Me: What’s this?
Facilitator: Just pour as much as you want.
Someone from afar: EH IT’S SYRUP AH!

I don’t really know what was it, and knowing it might be syrup, so I think I filled half a cup.

And then I was brought to a table with this bottle. I FREAKINGLY THOUGHT THE BOTTLE WAS PLAIN WATER AND POURED HALF A CUP.

Worse thing was, we didn’t drink the mixture we made ourselves.

They made us exchanged cups -.-

LOL mine was changed with Kent’s and I could hear him exclaim from far “Wah! This one is whole cup syrup or what! SO SWEET!”

Oops :/

 

Second station: Peeling of apple

Hahahah I aced this one okay.

Though I never knew how to peel apple with the apple peeler at home,  but I heard people commenting that I was good by my side

Shaved off the apple skin and ate the apple!

 

Third station:  BREAD

LOL. According to the facilitator who briefed us (whom I strongly suspect is Gavin), he said that we have to use the spoon and spread our bread with his secret mixture of don’t know what.

I think it made our whole table hesitate and not dare to spread anything lah can! HAHAHAHA.

Turns out it was kaya. -.-

 

Last station:  Three legged walk. BLINDFOLDED.

My partner was Salimah!
Our legs were tied up and I was given the walking stick.

And we had to walk this entire stretch of road, chanting “1,2,1,2″ like some idiotic blind retards.
BUT IT WAS PRETTY FUN. HAHAHAH.

Never walked so long, blindfolded and without anyone’s guidance before.

I guess this game has seriously met it’s objectives lah.

It’s really tough for the blind, as you have to know whether you’re walking uphill or downhill (WHICH I CAN’T DIFFERENTIATE LOL. Salimah had to tell me everything.), and make sure you don’t walk into depressions and curbs.

I made Salimah fall into a small drain :/ SORRY!

Thank god I have eyes.

 

After that blind trail, we waited for our entire group to reach and we took out our blindfolds and played this Da Vinci Game (forgot the actual name :/)

So basically, our group sits in a circle and each of us is handed a piece of paper with a word written on top. So we gotta draw the picture until the facilitator says ‘Stop!’ and we pass it on to the next group mate to complete the picture, and this repeats until it comes back to you!

Here’s the catch,

YOU GOTTA DRAW WITH YOUR MOUTH!

Woohooo, it was hilarious and I kept taking my marker out to laugh~ (which was a mistake cos I saw how soaked with saliva the tissue paper wrapped on my marker was )

But after that we learnt the ACE dance, 5 COLOURS IN HER HAIR! woohoooo mcfly
