2008 was by far,

the most fulfilling year for me I dare say.

Shall summarise this whole year with events that I’ve been to

NCC

 

March Annual UG Camp – Last UG camp as a Cadet.

I didn’t attend this camp fully cos of TKK competition.

My footdrills mutuals kind of sucked I guess :/
And I remember redoing Reaction to Enemy Fire many times (my legs were injured that time so couldn’t bring it to react fast zzz)

That picture was taken on the last day if I’m not wrong,
where the specialists were really angry with us after our mock GSK test.

I’ll never be able to forget that stretch of track which we marched and pumped on.
(As much as I’ll remember those smells HAHAHAH)

 

Gold Wings Course

The wearing of No. 3 for 3 whole days.
The meeting Qiaowei and Shirleen at Bukit Batok every morning.
The “eh why he wear beret under shelter one?” joke.
The long sleepy lectures in the auditorium.
The very fatherly sirs over at AFS.
The I’m sorry I gave you all the blue-blacks and I won’t go home without you~ crazes.
The heavenly food~

Albeit Silver Wings was so much better, I suppose Gold Wings was what drew the 3 of us closer.

 

Specialists Course West Phase 2 – 2SG, Platoon best

 

In Alpha 1 with Sir JY and Sir Joseph.
Made the I/C on the first day

Did mutuals to people I don’t know for the first time. Great experience.

I was really glad when I got into the first interview on the 3rd night even though the atmosphere was pretty scary.
Think sitting on a chair on the stage with all lights on you, facing a panel of Sirs sitting on the seats of the auditorium who are telling you “You didn’t do as well this time. Would you come for Phase 3 IF given the chance?”

I was in fact, trying hard not to smile cos I knew they were only testing me out (Zacc told me his experience LOL).
Come on man, I knew how I fare during the course - my mutuals cannot be THAT bad.

Last interview was .
But it was tough, having to fight with an award with both my friends. Very nice friends actually.
I had sort of given up in a sense during the interivew, especially after I told them how I couldn’t stand the power struggle which I saw during the course.

Was utterly shocked afterwards. Never had a chance to answer my doubt.

What happened after Spec Course was even more interesting heh.
*Stares at Shyh Horng* HAHAHA OKAY LAH I DON’T BLAME YOU.

But unhappy things aside, I made new friends! Yay.

Singapore Youth Festival Opening Ceremony GOH contingent

First time wearing No. 1 uniform in my life.
I remember how the 7 of us were getting so excited over this piece of uniform.

I really miss those days of skipping school to go for trainings/rehearsals at HQ and Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Felt really proud when we marched in – Cameras flashing, screams everywhere, WHOOO I FELT LIKE A STAR!

Not to forget, I celebrated my birthday over there

 

NCC Day

Finally full strength for this year.

 

 

ROD 2008

First big event all the specialists were involved in.

All the preparation was worth it I guess

David’s piano was superb (!) The whole hall was silent and listening to his song. It really stirred up a lot of emotions D:

Sigh my ROD’s in half a year’s time.

 

National Camp

This is Division India!

Spent 4 days in Ubin with them, though we stuck to our individual groups.

Nevertheless it was cool to see all the different UGs merged together and become friends.

The Campfire was a blast!

I lost my voice as a result and got laughed at -.-

Senior Specialists Course West/Sea

 It was a pretty boring course actually.
Didn’t exactly talk to many people cos we were either sitting in the MPH listening to lectures or split into our sections doing mutuals or having our meals.

 But I do remember this guy (can’t remember his name. was it alfred?) and ryan fam trying to challenge me to sitting straight LOL hilarious.

Got my rank and lanyard on the last day~
plus lots of bruises on my right arm.
Zzz.

 

MCYS-NCC Camp

 

First camp as an instructor. Quite cool actually.

Met interesting people (!) and we got to play pool in the mess

 

Ex Wallaby, Rockhampton Australia

Spent 6 whole days with these people.
All from different schools, but it was quite amazing seeing us getting along so well.

Gah I miss Camp Growl.

 

Camp Pinnacle

It was fab (!)

Last camp as a cadet ended off well

And Camp Pinnacle night was very very enjoyable.

Interact Club

 

 

 

 

 

Chiang Mai OCIP trip

 

One of the best overseas trip I’ve ever went to.
Beautiful scenery, meaningful purpose, awesome kids and people.

And it was also my first time staying in a village with wild boars/chickens/dogs running around and
bathing in a bathroom filled with different insects and creepy crawlies :/

Definitely going back again next year.

Combined Interact Camp

(My regrets, I don’t have a picture of the whole camp :X)

It was quite dissapointing actually.
Cos what we planned initially did not happen.

But the rather last minute camp that was scratched out and held at NP was not bad

Being the organiser of camp is cool~

 

Alright cannot really remember anymore Interact activities I took part in this year.
Attended more last year.

Gah focused alot on NCC this year and neglected Interact totally ):

Will contribute more in the following year, promise.

 

 

School

LOL So lame this one.

I don’t really remember attending lessons cos most of the time it’s either I’m sleeping, blanking out, or skipping lessons.

This year I failed my first ever test :/

Geography leh wtf.

And then I failed Physics twice D:

 

Procrastinated pretty much due to my CCAs and own laziness.
I don’t even remember completing any single Physics assignment on my own (only perhaps Pressure, cos it was simple).

Next year is the time to catch up with my class~

Went to make passport with my parents and it was

 

Person: Your spectacles are reflecting. You want to take it off or wear fake one? (shows me a hideous pair of specs)
Me: Huh uhh. Never mind I take off.

Person: Your fringe cannot. Must show full eyebrow. You want use water? (Points to this bottle meant for spraying plants)
Me: UHHH no need. (Sweeps fringe to the right)
Person: No still cannot. NEED SHOW FULL EYEBROW.
(After one shot)

Person: (ask my mum) Okay you come see can or not.
Mum: AIYA CANNOT LAH. Your smile ah, got problem is it. (My mum hates the way I smile dunno why zzz)
Person: Yeah cannot right. Okay you can choose to not smile.

 

So ended up my photo was

Damn I swear I won’t show my new passport to anyone.

 Parade rehearsal today  was ALRIGHT LAH.

Pretty screwed up some parts here and there.

And it got me really shagged – must be the lack of NCC trainings in the holidays.

 

After that went over to Qiaowei’s house to make Orientation souvenirs~

Was really tired so I don’t exactly know what I was saying/doing.
I only remember rewriting “RVNCC!!! (SMILEY FACE)” again and again.

 

Alright now not only is my computer screwed, my phone’s fucked up too. I can’t seem to load anything into my computer D:

Half dead

I hate it when I always fall sick after I stayover at somewhere else other than my house.

Reached home in the evening  after the camp and crashed straight into bed.
Didn’t even bother opening the windows.

Thank goodness I did not suffocate to death.

Combined Interact Camp was pretty alright, thankfully.

(This smiley resembles exactly like an Intellectually Disabled person aka the D guy)

 
Attendance was rather bad, way off our estimated number.

But like what Clement (tpjc one – crap, I know 4 Clements now) said, it’s actually good to have lesser people in the camp, since only Alvin and I were running the camp and Yujin ran off halfway -.-

 

Ngee Ann Poly’s a scary place.

During Guerilla Warfare Alvin and I sat at Blk 23 for 2 hours

Talked/Gossiped quite a bit. At least that distracted me from looking around the place :/

Was talking to Alvin on MSN just now.

Me: Wah you know my friend went to Singapore Poly, then he saw things :/
Poly is so !!!
Scary.

Alvin: I thought poly is like super clean of these kind of things since it’s like super freedom and no one kill themselves because of work.

Me: My friend he was washing hands, then saw one hand above the toilet (blah blah blah for more details ask Kelvin)

Alvin:  Omg that’s like the freakiest.
Then that time we go da bian in the boys toilet,
got people in the toilet meh?!
How come we saw a walking stick and plastic bag under one of the cubicle?

Okay basically what happened was, on the first day both of us had an urgent need to shit.

But I was being really humji and didn’t dare to go to the girls toilet alone.
( those toilets are spooky to the max)

So I went to use the boys toilet with Alvin.
Before that he already went in and checked all the cubicles to make sure there wasn’t anyone inside.

Throughout the shitting process me and him kept talking and I came out in less than 3 minutes.

When he came out, we realised the cubicle beside his had a walking stick and plastic bag on the floor.

And we were sure no one came in after us ….

We don’t have skipping rope and used raffia instead.

But raffia is too light zzz.
